We Greatly Respect and therefore would like to request Your Opinions, regarding what is “Best” in terms of the descriptions of the items / Products offered through I-ShopTheWorld.com, ok?
Therefore, Please Reply with Your Comments to these questions below regarding Your Thoughts on …Which is Better?
1) Firstly, in terms of the product description text …
Which is Better? …
More, longer “sales copy” including things like information About, the history, reputed beneficial properties, etc. of a gemstone(s) comprising a piece of jewelry?
E.g. an example of which you may see at: http://i-shoptheworld.com/products-page/jewelry/genuine-255-carats-jade-18k-solid-gold-men/
Or …
Less, shorter “sales copy” with just the specific details of that particular item, some pictures of it and it’s price?
E.g. an example of which you may see at: http://i-shoptheworld.com/products-page/jewelry/genuine-not-synthetic-citrine-ring/
Where, ultimately the measure of “better” herein has to be …
What will sell better?
… to the largest number / proportion of people?
And Why?
And in either case would you / the customer want links included either in the Product Description? or at the bottom of the Product Page to a separate web page(s) with more information about a given product, where it comes from, how it is crafted?, etc. or anything else – and if so what?
Or Not?
2) Secondly, in terms of information generally pertaining to most/all items like the text describing our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, our Return Rolicy, our shipping terms, etc. etc.…
Which is Better? …
a) To include this verbiage in the “body of the” description for each product / item?
b) To put all of this “general text” in the “footer”/at the bottom of the page, which is also displayed for each item?
c) To just put links to separate web pages where the customer may click on a link to read the complete verbiage on one of these general topics, e.g. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee | Our Return Policy | Shipping Info | etc. etc.?
Again, which of these techniques do you think will help the product/item descriptions “sell Better”?
And Why?
Finally (at least for now
) …
Is there Anything else that we are missing in terms of something that would Significantly Improve the “selling” effectiveness of our Product/Item Descriptions/listings?
And if so, What?
Again, we Always Welcome and would Greatly Appreciate All of Your Comments, Recommendations for Improvement, etc.!
ok?
Therefore, Please Reply with any/all of Your Comments in the “text box” provided for such below, ok?
Thank you in advance for all of your feedback and help in these regards and Have a Great Day!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackLess sales copy. Why, if I’m going to buy something I don’t want to go through/read “pages” to get to the end to click on the “buy” button. Bottom line, I don’t want to read all the fluff – but, that’s me
c) To just put links to separate web pages where the customer may click on a link to read the complete verbiage on one of these general topics, e.g. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee | Our Return Policy | Shipping Info | etc. etc.?
I think the links should go back to our website; say a “library” of precious metals, gemstones, etc.
I agree with Sonya. A simple, text description should be all that is needed (and it will keep the look of the site consistant and clean)
Thank you both, Sonya and Allan, for your prompt feedback on these topics!
Allan,
How do you think the “standard verbiage stuff”, like our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee | Our Return Policy | Shipping Info | etc. should Best be handled?
b) text in the “footer”/at the bottom of each Product Page?
Or …
c) To just put links to separate web pages, in the “footer”/at the bottom of each Product Page?
Or … Other options / your recommendations?
Thank you both again for your prompt and helpful responses and Have a Great Day!
All,
Based on the Excellent, Helpful feedback received thus far … Thank You all again for that!
…
We have gone ahead and “re-engineered” a few examples of Product Descriptions following your recommendations, of namely:
1) Applying the KISS (Keep It Simple ‘Silly’) Principle
2) Moving all the verbiage Standard to All Products to links at the bottom of every Product Page
3) Moving other standard verbiage relative to and/or About something about some types of Products to links within the description that lead to separate web pages.
You may see, and Please “Check Them Out” / Review them and Reply with Your Comments / Feedback regarding, these example “re-engineered” Product Descriptions at:

and …

I am “speculating” that we should still probably include verbiage within a Product Description that describes any Unique properties, uses, benefits, techniques for crafting, etc. of a particular item .. Wouldn’t you agree?
But otherwise in general, …
If you all prefer / like these types of shorter / more concise Product Descriptions Better?, and think that everyone else will as well and that they will likely “sell better”?, then …
We will go ahead and work on getting the descriptions for all of our other existing products updated, as soon as possible, and …
We will use this as our “standards/guidelines” going forward regarding future Product Descriptions.
Ok?
So …
Please let us know what you all think of the “New Look and Feel” of these example re-engineered” Product Descriptions?
And we will go from there, ok?
Thank you again for all of your help, feedback and recommendation for improvement in these regards, …
Keep ‘Em Coming! …
And Have a Great Day!
Every person is different but I am for less. I don’t take the time to read everything on all my purchases. I tend to be more of an impulse buyer – if I want it I am most likely going purchases it and I make the choice rather quickly. The amount of research I am putting into the product is representative of the price. The more expensive something is the more I will look into it. Even then I just want to see the basic over view quick and in bullet form. Easiest for me to process.
I would have to go with option c as my favorite choice. Clicking through options and find what I need and what interests me the most.
