The silver of my new pendant flows in a stranded effect horizontally reminiscent of water flowing gently over the white stalactites and stalagmites in a cavern. It even captures the look of mineralized water drops forming at the bottom of stalactites. The silver does an excellent job of reflecting that look of limestone one might expect to see in a cave.

The pendant has a cool, refreshing glint yet it seems well grounded and “sturdy.”

It’s solidity is accented by three blue stones that suggest to me the color of the sky on a clear day, water sitting ripple-free in a crystal-clear lake, and the color of my mother’s eyes as I’ve looked into them since the day I was born.

For me, the SilverLily Three Blue Pendant is just a fabulous piece of jewelry. I’m glad I chose it and obtained it for myself. It hangs gracefully from the chain I picked for it at just the right weight. I know it’s there; it doesn’t float aimlessly as I move, but it also doesn’t tug.

I don’t know where artists get their inspirations from. Many sources, I suspect. Why an artist chooses one medium over another is also a personal expression of their creativity. Working in metal is one of those artistic forms that results in an enduring piece of work.

Even the word “art” lends itself to creative interpretation. One of the simplest definitions is “products of creative work.”  I also like the one that says “a making or doing of things that display form, beauty, and unusual perception.”

That latter definition works for me when I think of how to describe my SilverLily Three Blue pure silver pendant because it gives me the freedom to perceive its form and beauty in a personal manner that means something only to me and I no longer have to wonder what the artist was thinking when she created it.

What I know is that for me in this instance, art appears to have captured a moment in nature and preserved it, and in doing so, it has even sparked a cycle of creativity resulting in me writing this column.

I am thrilled to have been part of the support network this artist needs to encourage her further expression through her SilverLily line of jewelry. I hope other online shoppers at I-ShopTheWorld.com who chose one of her pendants have a similar experience in finding a piece of jewelry they can wear and fully appreciate.
